The Friends of Yosemite Search and Rescue (YOSAR) is a non-profit organization that primarily:

  • Supports YOSAR team members with additional training funds;
  • Coordinates with YOSAR in securing grants;
  • Provides public outreach and education materials regarding safety in Yosemite National Park.

All donations are administered through an independent Board. The Board is made up of present/former YOSAR Team Members and Advisors who have worked in and around Yosemite National Park as administrators, medical professionals, and rescue personnel.

Donations have allowed:

  • Team members to receive stipends to attend medical and technical trainings;
  • Conversion of the Mobile Incident Command Bus into an educational Preventative Search and Rescue unit;
  • Establishing a training endowment to support the future additional training needs of rescue personnel;
  • Creating and maintaining this website to provide more timely information on incidents in Yosemite National Park.
  • Read the Year End Report for 2008.
  • Read the Year End Report for 2007.

No donation is used to directly support rescue operations - the costs associated with missions are covered through Federal Accounts appropriated to the National Park Service.
