I'm a flatlander from Iowa and moved out to California to experience the Wild West and joined the Yosemite PSAR team to experience as much wilderness medicine as possible from the experts. After this season ends, who knows what's next?! I'm excited to keep traveling, learning, and meeting amazing people.

Ryan:

I am new to Yosemite this year. (2nd season with the NPS). Last season I was an Interpretation Ranger with lateral duties as EMS/SAR, and Wildland Fire at Crater Lake National Park. I came to Yosemite this season to gain more experience in a larger and busier Park and to also gain more experience in the SAR world. For me, this is a stepping stone position into a Law Enforcement role. In January 2020, I plan to attend the NPS FLETA in Washington state to hopefully become a Seasonal Law Enforcement Ranger next season. My big goal with the NPS is to eventually gain a permanent position somewhere as a LE Ranger and maybe eventually Chief Ranger. During the seasonal lifestyle, I hope to experience several different Parks to determine where I may want to settle down permanently. I am from Tennessee, so the Great Smoky Mountains are always on my mind for permanency. However, I will just have to see where this great seasonal journey will take me!

Jillian:

Originally from Gallup, NM. This is my third season with the NPS, I am in this position to build my experience in EMS and SAR and to ensure visitors have a good and safe experience in the park as much as possible. I am unsure where I will go next but hope to work in Environmental Education and pursue a graduate degree in that field.
