I grew up in Redding, in Northern California. I attended University in Santa Barbara, and did some postgraduate work in Hong Kong, before moving to Yosemite in 2015. I met Werner Von Braun and Mary when I was 14, and my Uncle told me they were on SAR and total badasses. I think that planted the seed in my mind. After my University experience I wanted to find a way to directly help others. Through time I realized that SAR was a great venue for that goal. Next up: I have a one way ticket for Spain on December 5th. My plan is to spend the winter sport climbing to prepare for the next Yosemite season.
I'm originally from Texas, but I don't live there anymore! I wanted to be on SAR this year for a few reasons; to gain competence in wilderness medicine and use my recently acquired EMT credential, climb and live in the one of the most beautiful places on Earth all summer long, and gain lots of training to possibly move up to a climber ranger position within the NPS. When this season ends I have a climbing and highlining trip planned for China in November, followed by a trip to Patagonia this winter where I'll stay for 2.5 months, with some working in between in December.
I’m originally from Northern Michigan. I first visited Yosemite in 2011 and have been coming back to work/climb every year since. I chose to be on YOSAR this year to help people, to be a part of this particular team of wonderful people, and to live in paradise. I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to many more seasons on YOSAR!
I grew up splitting my time between Jackson Hole and Salt Lake City, now when I'm not in Yosemite I live in Squamish, BC. Joining YOSAR was a dream come true, inspiring work with plenty of time to play outside. I continue to be moved by the beauty of Yosemite and the love of the community that lives here.
